It’s great to explore the globe and discover new and exciting places, but there’s something to be said for re-visiting the cities you loved the first time around. I don’t see anything wrong with going back to a city that stole my heart at some point in my life, particularly when cities are ever evolving.
There are so many cities still left to see, but here are 5 I’ve already been to and would love to see again.
#1. New York
Ahh, New York. Who wouldn’t go back to the Big Apple for a second bite? The first time I visited there was no High Line, no pedestrianised Times Square, and we only got to see half the stuff we could have done. I’d give my right arm to be walking through Central Park with a giant pretzel and an armful of Bloomingdales bags in a New York minute.
Another city with so much to do and so little time spent there. We had 4 days to explore in the glorious sunshine and only managed a third of the things on our list. The next time I get there I’ll make sure to see the fountain at Montjuic, make a Friends reference at Tibidabo, and do some photography around the Gothic Quarter.
#3. San Francisco
The place that I miss the most. San Francisco was the last stop on our Trek America tour and even though we stayed for an extra two days, it just wasn’t enough. We didn’t get to see the Painted Ladies, visit Amoeba Records, or eat clam chowder. I know, I know. It’s like we never went there at all! I left my heart in San Francisco, so if anyone fancies sending me back to get it, let me know.
A quick day trip with friends from Glasgow was a delight. But I’d really love to experience Hogmanay in Edinburgh! I was super jealous of Travels of Adam’s participation in the torchlight procession this year. His pictures are spectacular and the whole thing looks amazing. This time next year, I’ll be there.
A place I’ve already been several times, and somewhere I’ll continue to visit for years to come. I dream of retiring to a Parisian cottage, surrounded by fresh bread and succulent fruits. Oh, and a mountain of cheese. Is anyone else’s life goal to eat ALL the cheese?
Which cities do you love enough to see again? Tell me where…
